Multi Vastgoed, the Dutch subsidiary of Multi Corporation, was chosen by the municipality of Velsen, in competition with three other developers, to develop the inner-city of IJmuiden in the Netherlands. In May the company will consult the city council about the project. Multi's plan offers the opportunity to significantly accelerate the long-term preparations for the development of the city centre and does not require any third party participation, the company said on Thursday.

'The plan can therefore be realised, even in these current uncertain market circumstances, very quickly,' it said.
Under Multi’s plan, the main shopping street, Nieuwstraat, will be extended and contain a sunken shopping street; inspired by Multi’s Beurstraverse project in Rotterdam. Multi expects to take action together with the municipality, shopkeepers and residents to work out the plan on short notice.
