Paris-listed commercial property company MRM has announced the opening of the new Habitat store in Vélizy-Villacoublay, near Paris. The store is part of the Carré Vélizy development owned and developed by MRM. The opening of the store by home furnishing retailer Habitat marks the final phase of the redevelopment of the site acquired in late 2005.

Habitat has taken up the lease for a 2,500 m2 unit over two floors within the Carré Vélizy complex. The mixed-use scheme has been redeveloped over the past 18 months and currently comprises 11,100 m2 of office and retail space. The complex consists of the Equateur and Azimuth office buildings offering 6,600 m2 of office space as well as two retail units leased to Office Depot and Habitat.

MRM, which is managed by CB Richard Ellis Investors, said it has increased the occupancy rate in the scheme from 54% in late 2005 to around 84% at present.

'MRM is extremely satisfied to see the last stage of the redevelopment of Carré Vélizy become concrete with the opening of the store by Habitat,' said Jacques Blanchard, chairman and CEO of MRM. 'Carré Vélizy now makes a solid contribution to MRM's cash flow.'
