MIPIM unveils award nominees

The 2013 edition of the MIPIM Awards has attracted a record number of entries with 175 projects from 46 countries competing.

Following jury deliberations in Paris earlier this week, the list of nominees includes seven projects from the UK, followed by Germany, Korea and Denmark which each have three projects in the final voting stage.

Asian projects were particularly strong in the ‘Best Shopping Centre’ category, where three of the four finalists are from Singapore, South Korea and Japan.

'Due to the volume and quality of the projects that have entered, we decided to select four finalists per category this year instead of three,' commented MIPIM director Filippo Rean. As part of the Turkey Country of Honour programme in 2013, the jury also selected four entries to compete in the additional ‘Best Turkish Project’ category.

MIPIM Award winners will be chosen in Cannes by a combination of MIPIM delegates and the international jury, headed by CBRE chairman Michael Strong. Each group will represent 50% of the final vote.

The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at MIPIM on 14 March.
