Appear Here, the UK-based 'airbnb of retail' which helps landlords let vacant units on short, flexible leases to new retailers and global brands, is set to announce a move into continental Europe.

Appear Here has grown rapidly in the UK, launching 1,000 stores on temporary leases across country last year alone.

Speaking exclusively to PropertyEU at MIPIM UK, the 23-year old Appear Here founder, Ross Bailey, said his company is likely to announce that it has signed up three of France’s biggest retail landlords within the next few weeks.

There is huge demand for pop up, flexible leases in Paris, according to Bailey. ‘We have got more space in 12 weeks in Paris that we achieved in our first 12 months in the UK,’ he said, but he has competition there. ‘We were relatively late to the market,’ he added. The company aims to focus on Paris before reaching further afield and looking at other big cities across Europe, such as Berlin.
