The city of Stockholm is unveiling ambitious plans to increase its use of BREEAM In-Use to help manage and improve the sustainability performance of its buildings.
In 2013, the city authority certified more than 30 buildings under BREEAM In-Use International, which was launched in June last year. In 2015, the city plans to have assessed and certified a total of 100 buildings across its entire portfolio and Stockholm is now the largest municipality user of the scheme across the whole of Europe. Madeleine Sjöstedt, deputy mayor, culture and real estate division at the City of Stockholm said: 'BREEAM In-Use is an important tool, and an important part of the city's vision 2030 which aims to make Stockholm a world-class city.'
The 31 buildings certified under BREEAM In-Use in 2013 include the City Hall and Alfred Nobel's nitro-glycerine factory.
