Some 25,000 property professionals are expected to attend the MIPIM property market in Cannes on the French Riviera, a 16% increase on the record set in 2006.
'MIPIM's international growth continues, once again confirming the show as the international meeting place for the property industry,’ said Thierry Renault, deputy managing director of Reed MIDEM. 'As the annual forum for the leading international investors and users from all over the world, MIPIM will this year play host to 5,500 decision-makers in this sector.'
Professionals from at least 74 countries have signed up to attend the trade fair from March 13 to 16.
Attendance from Central and Eastern Europe is at a 'peak' and the Russian Federation is reaching new heights, with an increase of 77% over last year, the organisers said. Scandinavian countries are also on the rise, with Sweden and Denmark boosting their attendance by 24% and 40% respectively.
The Middle Eastern presence continues to grow especially with Dubai, the participation for the first time of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and the notable entry of Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. There are also new exhibitors from Brazil, Mexico and Asia. The overall increase means that MIPIM this year will utilise almost 24,000 m2 at the Palais des Festivals exhibition centre in Cannes.
