Meinl Airport International has formed a strategic alliance with Airport Design and Management (AD-M) to boost their share in the air transportation sector.
Noting that AD-M is specialised in planning, design and strategic development of airports, Roman Himmler, chairman of Meinl Airport Managers, said the partners had already started collaborating on a number of 'interesting projects' within the sector. 'We intend to be as dynamic as the industry we serve,' he said.
When Meinl Airport International was launched by Meinl Bank in 2006, the company said airports are no longer simply take-off and landing points but rather 'function as business centres and in many cases are towns in their own right - airport cities'.
By acquiring airports and investing in airports, Meinl hopes to benefit from the rapid pace of growth in its target markets in Central and Eastern Europe. Additionally, Meinl expects that the development of the non-aviation segment will lead to sustained long-term appreciation in the value of its acquisitions.
'Meinl Airports International brings together Meinl Bank Group's extensive CEE know-how and Meinl European Land's project development expertise. We know the markets, we already have the necessary networks in place, and we understand the mechanisms governing the privatisation process in the CEE,' commented Julius Meinl in March 2007.
