German asset manager Meag said on Friday that Günter Manuel Giehr is to take over the management of the firm's global real estate activities, replacing Knut Riesmeier, who will leave the company at the end of September.

German asset manager Meag said on Friday that Günter Manuel Giehr is to take over the management of the firm's global real estate activities, replacing Knut Riesmeier, who will leave the company at the end of September.

Günter Manuel Giehr (51) studied economics in Hamburg and Freiburg. After various management postings within the insurance industry he joined Meag as Managing Director in 1999, with responsibility for the Risk Controlling, Back Office and IT/Organisation Development units.

Meag Munich Ergo AssetManagement is the asset manager of Munich Re and Ergo Insurance Group. With offices in New York and Hong Kong, Meag currently manages real estate assets worth EUR 11 bn.
