Matthias Thomas has been appointed as the new CEO of INREV, the European association for investors in non-listed real estate funds. He will take up the position in August 2010.

Matthias Thomas has been appointed as the new CEO of INREV, the European association for investors in non-listed real estate funds. He will take up the position in August 2010.

Thomas, who has a long career in European real estate, joins INREV from the Real Estate Management Institute at the European Business School. He was also managing director of the German office of the IPD Investment Property Databank, which he founded in 1998.

INREV currently has 342 members drawn from leading institutional investors, fund managers, promoters and advisers across Europe and elsewhere. INREV has 55 investor members with real estate assets under management of over EUR 135 bn.

The new CEO's interests include real estate portfolio management under consideration of both direct and indirect investments, real estate performance measurement as well as valuation. Thomas has published over 70 articles on various aspects of real estate and has contributed to numerous national and international journals.

Thomas succeeds Lisette van Doorn, who stepped down as CEO of INREV in October 2009 to join ING Real Estate Investment Management (REIM) Italy.
