Ecorys, an international company specialising in economic, spatial and social development, is holding a two-day masterclass in partnership with top level experts in the field to provide solutions to face the competition for urban investment.

The first edition will take place from 12 to 13 November 2009 in Brussels.

Ecorys says that across Europe urban development has faced a major backlash. With lack of demand and shaky financial markets, many projects have been cancelled or shelved.

Ecorys says that surviving projects tend to rely heavily on public funding but how long will this last is open to question. The masterclass will also deal with the issue of where to find investment for urban development when financial markets are likely to remain constrained for a long period to come.
