Private European retail company Redevco was awarded 28 BREEAM sustainability certificates for its buildings at the Mapic retail property fair in Cannes on Thursday.

The company said the latest round of certificates means it has now ‘greened’ nearly 45% of the investment value of its portfolio and is on course for 100% certification by the end of 2016.

All the certificates awarded at Mapic were for the ‘In Use’ category and went to 10 properties in Belgium, nine in France, four in The Netherlands and five in the UK, bringing the total number of BREEAM-certified Redevco assets to 135.

A ‘Very Good’ rating was achieved for the redevelopment of the 2,600 m2 C&A store in Zaandam to the north of Amsterdam.

Redevco owns around 450 buildings in popular European retail locations across Belgium, Germany, France, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain, the UK and Switzerland.
