The group said that more than 70% of the scheme's retail space has now been either leased or is in advanced negotiations.

The centre will be McArthurGlen’s fourth in the French market and is set to open in early 2023 as the only luxury shopping destination west of Paris.

Construction is well underway on the 20,000 m2 development, conceived in partnership with French architect firm, Arte Charpentier, which will mark the group’s 27th centre in 10 countries and will see more than €200 mln invested into the project.

Located on the A13 motorway only a 45-minute drive from the Arc de Triomphe and less than 35 minutes from the Palace of Versailles, Paris-Giverny will serve the fashionable catchment west of Paris, as well as the 40M tourists that will visit the French capital each year.

Joan Jove, group co-CEO, said: 'Our newest project in Paris-Giverny presents an incredible opportunity for brands; it’s within easy reach of an affluent regional population of highly discerning luxury shoppers with a spend per capita that is 33% higher than the national average.'

The centre is being built to meet the highest environmental green building specifications, and attain an ‘Excellent’ HQE (High Environmental Quality) certificate. The design includes living walls designed by the French artist and botanist, Patrick Blanc, and implemented by Biotecture, which will be complemented by nearly 20,000 m2 of green roofing, as well as over 100 electric vehicle charging points.

The development will also feature an artisan village will bring together the very best in art, culture and gastronomy from the Normandy region. Dubbed the Maison des Métiers d'Art, it has been developed in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (The CCI) and the Chamber of Crafts and Artisanship of the Eure (The CMA).
