Italy's Magnetti, a 200-year-old company specialising in the production of bricks, has made a joint call with the northern municipalities of Cisano Bergamasco and Pontida for architects and development companies to help regenerate an industrial area of 150,000 m2 that was previously occupied by Magnetti's factories.

The plan, launched by the boroughs of the two towns near Milan, will create a new district, comprising a shopping centre, a residential scheme and a 20,000 m2 craft centre. The shopping mall is expected to occupy some 15,000 m2 on one level, and will provide 700 parking spaces. Competing tenders are to be submitted by June 18, Italian national news agency Ansa reported.
