Sonae Sierra has announced that its joint venture shopping centre project with MAB Development in the German city of Solingen has reached the 45% leasing mark more than a year before it is scheduled to open.

Sonae Sierra has announced that its joint venture shopping centre project with MAB Development in the German city of Solingen has reached the 45% leasing mark more than a year before it is scheduled to open.

Solingen Shopping Center will comprise 29,000 m2 gross leasable area (GLA) in the centre of Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The project represents an investment of EUR 120 mln and will serve a catchment area of around 270,000 inhabitants.

Several big names are among the tenant list. Consumer electronics retailer Saturn will have a two-level store covering over 4,600 m2. Groceries specialist Edeka has taken 3,550 m2, while drug store dm-drogerie and footwear specialist Deichmann are taking 750 m2 and 600 m2.

The shopping centre is due to open in autumn 2013.
