M7, which has a portfolio in Germany valued at around €1.4 bn, has hired Harriet Ziegler to head up the new office and to oversee the management of the Onyx portfolio in northern Germany, M7's joint venture with Blackstone.

Ziegler will also be responsible for the recruitment and management of a local team, and will report directly to M7's managing director in Germany, Alyssa Huse.

Prior to joining M7, Ziegler spent seven years as a senior asset manager at Silverton Asset Solutions, where she was responsible for managing properties in a number of non-performing loan portfolios. Her role included the acquisition, operational asset management and the sale of individual commercial properties for clients including both UK and US private equity companies and banks.

Earlier in her career, she held positions managing a local office for Hochtief in Cologne and leading a property management team for JLL in Frankfurt.

'Around a quarter of M7’s total portfolio is located in Germany where the real estate market continues to deliver a robust performance,' said Alyssa Huse, managing director of M7 in Germany.

M7 Real Estate has a staff of over 200 staff in 13 countries, viz. the UK, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Slovakia.

Founded in 2009 and wholly owned by its senior managers, M7 manages a portfolio of around 1,000 properties with a total lettable area of 7.7 million m2 and a capital value of over €4.8 bn.
