UK retail and leisure agent Lunson Mitchenall has been instructed by Burger King UK to support the opening of more than 90 fast food outlets across the country in the next three years.
The occupier representation team will work alongside a group of joint agents to roll out Burger King UK’s acquisition strategy throughout the UK and the growth of their franchise partners, Lunson Mitchenall said.
'It is great to be working alongside such an iconic and much loved global name like Burger King,' said Matt Maynard, director, Lunson Mitchenall.
'It is a really interesting time for the fast food market in particular which, against the wider economic back drop, is enjoying strong growth thanks to a shift in perception of fast food and consumers responding to Burger King’s reinvigorated offering,' Maynard added.
The firm will cover East Anglia, South East, South West and South Wales on behalf of Burger King, which plans to open at least 30 new outlets per year in the next 36 months.
Lunson Mitchenall said it had already secured nine new sites for Burger King UK with recent openings in Brentwood and Cheltenham, and more in the pipeline. The focus of the expansion is centered around high footfall areas where that lack a Burger King UK presence and includes transport interchanges, Drive Thrus and retail parks, high street locations and shopping centre food courts. The team are looking for sites between 1,600 and 3,000 ft2.
Founded in 1954, Burger King is the second largest fast food and hamburger chain in the world and currently has over 500 restaurants in the UK alone.
The expansion plans follow the creation in 2017 of a master franchise jv between Bridgepoint and Restaurant Brands International Inc to strengthen the chain's position in the UK, with a revamp of the brand identity and new store fit outs.
