He will advise on the firm's growing pipeline of development and land projects, including the firm's £500 mln (€560 mln) Build to Rent (BtR) multi-family investment programme, and the Fawley Waterside regneration scheme in Hampshire.

Hockaday said: 'Long Harbour has incredible depth and breadth of expertise, and I am looking forward to working across such an exciting pipeline of residential development projects.'

Most recently, Hockaday was head of investments at Laing O’Rourke for over 12 years, building a portfolio of over £2 bn in the UK and Canada. He was also the joint venture director for the Northern Line extension and the Thames Tideway Tunnel in London.

In addition to construction and pipeline management for the PRS investment programme, Hockaday will oversee stakeholder engagement on development projects.

William Astor, chief executive at Long Harbour, said: 'Stephen’s appointment will increase our expertise as we expand our pipeline of new homes and bring forward increasingly complex residential and mixed-use projects, such as Fawley Waterside. He will also play an important role in delivering high levels of sustainability and green buildings across our portfolio.'
