UK real estate developer London Square has teamed up with Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, in a £110 mln (€129 mln) joint venture.
Their project will transform the former Richmond College campus on Egerton Road in Twickenham, situated near Twickenham Stadium, the home of England Rugby.
Approved in August 2022 by the London Borough of Richmond, the plans call for 212 new homes, with more than half (51%) designated as affordable housing. London Square will handle the development and sales of the private homes, while Clarion Housing will manage the affordable units.
Demolition of the existing college buildings is underway to make way for a sustainable, mixed-tenure development named Twickenham Square. This exciting project will include 28 homes for London Affordable Rent, 80 homes for Shared Ownership, and 104 private homes for sale.
The first residents are expected to move in by 2026. Designed by leading architects BPTW with landscaping by Levitt Bernstein, Twickenham Square will prioritize sustainability, ensuring all homes are Net Zero Carbon compatible.
Adam Lawrence, founder and CEO, London Square, said: ‘Our continued partnership with Latimer and Clarion Housing Group means that we will be delivering much-needed affordable homes alongside homes for private sale, all reflecting the outstanding quality and design that London Square is committed to building, irrespective of tenure.’
Richard Cook, Group director of Development at Clarion Housing Group, added: “This partnership allows us to deliver new affordable housing and the first Net Zero Carbon homes for the local community. Twickenham Square represents our continued commitment to building vibrant, inclusive communities, reducing carbon emissions, and enriching lives through sustainable development.’
This marks the fourth collaboration between London Square and Latimer. They are already working together on shared ownership homes at London Square Croydon and delivering entirely affordable housing projects in Neasden and Staines-upon-Thames.
