Hamburg-based Lloyd Fonds AG has acquired the Fleesensee hotel project in Mecklenburg, northern Germany from developer GBI. The transaction volume amounts to EUR 18 mln. The four-star hotel is scheduled to open in July 2009. It will have 156 rooms and suites as well as a spa and fitness area. A spokesperson for Lloyd Fonds said the hotel will be transferred to a new closed-end fund to be launched at the beginning of next year. She said details regarding the size of the fund were not yet available.

The Iberotel Fleesensee is the fifth hotel purchased by Lloyd Fonds from GBI. In June the company bought two Motel One hotel developments in Nuremberg and Berlin for EUR 36 mln from GBI. The Nuremberg site is due to open this summer, while the 410-room development in Berlin is scheduled to open its doors in the end of 2009. Lloyd bought a third Motel One hotel from GBI in September 2008.
