Flemish retail group Liebrecht & Wood plans to start development next week of its Morski Park Handlowy mixed-use scheme in northern Poland. The company said that it has appointed Hochtief Polska as general contractor for the complex.

Morski Park Handlowy will be developed on a 160,000 m2 site and will consist of three parts offering a total of 50,000 m2 of retail space. The complex will include a shopping centre, a Fashion House retail outlet section, a food court and offices to rent. The scheme will also offer 1,500 parking spaces.

According to Liebrecht & Wood, French supermarket chain Carrefour has already taken nearly 8,500 m2 of retail space in the scheme, while the DIY group OBI will occupy some 11,000 m2. CBRE was appointed to market the property. The construction will be carried out in phases with the second phase expected to start in the summer. All construction works are planned for completion during the second quarter of 2011.

'Hochtief Polska's selection as our general contractor came at the same time as we received full financial security for the project,' said Patrick Van Den Bossche, Liebrecht & Wood's managing director.

Liebrecht & Wood is a Belgian real estate developer with projects under development in the Polish, Romanian and Russian real estate markets.
