Located in the industrial estate of the municipality of Villadangos del Paramo, province of Leon, the platform will require an investment of €100 mln.

Lidl currently has a network of eleven logistics platforms in Spain and plans to open five warehouses in the coming years in Escúzar (Granada), Parla (Madrid), Martorell (Barcelona), Constantí (Tarragona) and Villadangos del Páramo.

The retailer arrived in the province of Castilla y León 27 years ago where it currently has 25 points of sale.

In addition, it buys products worth €290 mln a year from more than 40 suppliers in Castilla y León and exports up to 40% to some thirty countries.

The regional director of expansion and real estate of Lidl Spain, Albert Lavín, said: ‘In recent years we have been significantly expanding our presence throughout Spain by opening new shops, a reality that allows us to be ever closer to the consumer, but which also requires us to constantly increase our logistics infrastructure with new facilities from which to efficiently manage our product assortment.’
