Legal & General Property (LGP) has announced plans to create a new leisure destination for Trowbridge, England.

Legal & General Property (LGP) has announced plans to create a new leisure destination for Trowbridge, England.

The UK investor said it will develop a new scheme on the former Tesco site at St Stephens Place which will include six restaurants, a 60-bedroom hotel and an eight-screen cinema. 106 new car parking spaces are also proposed. The plans are fully funded and deliverable, the company added.

LGP, which owns and operates the nearby Castle Place Shopping Centre, is the second-largest investor of leisure parks in the UK and currently manage 14 leisure schemes across the country.

'We are already in the process of agreeing detailed terms with our cinema operator and have strong interest from hotel and restaurant occupiers who are very keen to locate in Trowbridge,' said Simon Russian, head of Retail Development at LGP.

A planning application for St Stephens Place is expected to be submitted in October. Subject to planning approval, the scheme could open in 2013.
