Leviev is the chairman and controlling stakeholder in Africa Israel Investments, a Tel Aviv-listed conglomerate active in the residential and commercial real estate, energy and industry sectors. AFI is the majority shareholder in AFI Development.

Commenting on his appointment, Lev Leviev said: 'AFI Development is at a very exciting point in its evolution, with strong progress in its active acquisition and development programmes as illustrated by the 9% increase in net asset value reported at the half year and the substantial rise in pre-tax profits in each set of results since the listing of the company's global depository receipts'.
