LaSalle Investment Management has acquired the Mercat shopping centre in Kirkcaldy, Scotland as well as three retail units on the town’s high street on behalf of a client. The assets were bought from joint administrators Blair Nimmo and Gary Fraser of KPMG for an undisclosed amount.

Mercat Shopping Centre is a 200,000 sq ft (18,600 m2) covered multi-let shopping centre comprising 62 retail units. The centre is currently home to 49 retailers, including Marks & Spencer, BHS, Home Bargains, Argos, Poundland and Peacocks.

LaSalle said the centre offers an 'excellent opportunity to attract additional retailers to the existing strong tenant line-up and to continue successful trading within the scheme'.

LaSalle was advised by BNP Paribas and KPMG by Eric Young and Company.
