Biljana Pehrsson, CEO of Stockholm-listed Kungsleden, and Siv Malmgren, CEO of the family owned company John Mattson, have been honoured as female role models of the year in the Swedish property sector.

The award ceremony took place on 19 September. Now in its tenth consecutive year, the ceremony is run by the Swedish Property Federation in partnership with property magazine Fastighetsnytt. The aim is to raise the profile of female executives, to inspire more women to take on more demanding and responsible positions.

Commenting on award for the recently appointed CEO of Kungsleden, the jury said: 'Biljana Pehrsson has solid domestic and international experience in property development and investments. Her documented, far-reaching expertise and personal impact have enabled her to take on the role as chief executive of a major listed property company. Biljana is courageous, daring to take on new challenges—she’s a role model for women in the sector.'

Kungsleden focuses on owning and managing industrial, warehouse, office and retail properties in Greater Stockholm, the Mälaren Valley, south-western Sweden and growth locations in the north of the country. The portfolio was valued at €1.8 bn at end-June 2013.

The jury said that Malmgren was rewarded for her genuine interest in developing properties in interaction with the surrounding community. 'Her motivation is clear: (the property) will be good for all those who live, work and own the properties. Siv is a reflective property entrepreneur who neither compromises on quality or profitability.'

John Mattson Fastighets owns and manages residential and commercial properties in the Lidingö area of Stockholm.
