The project forms part of a new district to the south of central Copenhagen, which is taking shape on the site of the former Carlsberg brewery. Heritage buildings, some of which date back 160 years, are being combined with new residential and commercial assets to create a new neighbourhood.

The asset acquired by KLP is called the Emil Christian Hansen House, named after a Carlsberg researcher who made revolutionary studies in the use of yeast for beer production.

Currently under construction, with a targeted completion date of early 2021, the building comprises five floors amounting to 16,000 m2 of office space, plus a basement of 3,700 m2. Software and services group Visma has signed a long-term tenancy agreement for the entire property.

'With this acquisition, we have secured a modern and flexible office building in Copenhagen in an area that is developing into a central and attractive local environment,' said KLP CEO, Gunnar Gjørtz. 'We are looking forward to opening the doors for Visma in 2021.'

KLP's property portfolio currently amounts to more than NOK 67 bn (€7 bn), of which around NOK 6 bn is located in Denmark.
