Odysseum in the French city of Montpellier has been named best shopping centre at the 2010 Mapic Awards last week. The Odysseum scheme is a 50/50 joint venture between Klepierre and Icade and the largest shopping centre opened in France so far this year.
The complex is part of a vast programme to develop the new district of Port Marianne, located in the southeast section of Montpellier, combining leisure activities with retail spaces spread over 140,000 m2. The mall represents an investment of EUR 95 mln for Klépierre, and a total investment of some EUR 200 mln.
The fully-let complex covers around 50,000 m2 of gross space spread across two levels and 96 shops. It also includes a Géant Casino hypermarket, and offers parking for over 2,000 vehicles. The development is being financed by Caisse d’Epargne Languedoc Roussillon et l'investissement. The centre was marketed by Icade, which will continue to manage it in the future.
