French retail specialist Klepierre has mandated Savills to sell the Tor Vergata shopping centre in the outskirts of Rome, well-informed market souces told PropertyEU. Opened in December 2004, the mall was and acquired by Klepierre in early 2005 for over EUR 58 mln.
The centre consists of a Carrefour hypermarket and 65 retail units across 25,800 m2 of gross lettable area. The complex is the second about to change hands in the Italian capital this year after agreement was reached in March to sell the Porta di Roma complex to a joint venture of Corio and Allianz for around EUR 440 mln.
Klépierre's Italian portfolio consists of 35 shopping centres valued at nearly EUR 1.5 bn. In November last year the company boosted its presence in Northern Italy with the acquisition of an additional 21.3% stake in IGC, the owner of nine shopping centres located in the vicinity of Milan, for EUR 76.5 mln. The transaction increased Klépierre's stake in IGC to 71.3% from 50%. The company also has an option to buy the remainder of IGC's capital that can be exercised until 14 December 2017.
