King Sturge Poland has been appointed as exclusive adviser and leasing agent on two planned shopping centres in Bia³ystok and Siedlce in eastern Poland. 'These are important new schemes and are a further indication of the underlying strength of the Polish retail market,' said Mark Barnes, Head of CEE Retail for King Sturge.
Both projects will be developed by Polish developer PB Konstanty Strus which, since 1991, has mainly developed residential projects in Warsaw and in its home city of Siedlce, but has also built retail schemes such as Galeria S and Galeria Millenium in Siedlce.
The sites were bought by PB Konstanty Strus this year. Bulak Projekt is working up designs for the schemes which are scheduled to open in 2013.
The new Siedlce shopping and entertainment mall will add a further 30,000 m2 to the city’s existing retail centre at the crossroads of Pilsudsiego, Sienkiewicza and Jurowiecka Streets. The location is already a retail destination because of the Strus company’s Galeria S, which features such tenants as Deichmann, CCC and Stokrotka supermarket.
The Bia³ystok scheme will provide a multi-functional building of almost 60,000 m2 of which around 25,000 m2 will comprise shopping and entertainment areas. Hotel and office facilities will also be included in the development, which will be located on Inwalidów Square, one of the city’s busiest in terms of pedestrian and car traffic. Planned infrastructure improvements will see a widening of Pi³sudskiego, Sienkiewicza and Jurowiecka Streets and construction of an underground pedestrian crosswalk so that the property will be easily accessible to both motorists and pedestrians.
Agnieszka Michalczewska, Head of Retail Agency for King Sturge in Poland, said: 'Both of the planned new shopping centres are in excellent trading locations, at the very heart of Siedlce and Bia³ystok, and are therefore well placed to attract the most popular retailers.'
