This team will focus on expanding KGAL’s strategic growth plan in the residential segment through acquisitions in Germany and across Europe.

Following the recent first closing of KGAL Wohnen Core 3 with €370 mln of equity commitments, and for which €420 mln has now been raised, the German investment and asset manager is strengthening its expertise in residential investments with a clear expansion focus on selected European metropolitan regions.

André Zücker, managing director and head of real estate at KGAL Investment said: 'With Rainer Pohl, we have succeeded in bringing on board a proven expert in residential real estate to further enhance our long-established in-house competence in this area. KGAL has been an investor in residential real estate since 2008.

'The new residential transaction team will specifically focus on expanding our transaction activities in Germany and, above all, in other European markets. This will enable us to respond to the enormous demand for investment solutions in the residential segment by expanding our acquisition pipeline and continue to secure sustainable residential assets for our investors even in a tightening market.'

Most recently, Pohl held the position of head of transaction management at Fundamenta Group Germany from 2017 until 2021. In this role he was responsible for the execution of the entire acquisition process for residential and mixed-use portfolio properties and forward deals. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at Patrizia Immobilien in various roles, latterly as director of residential acquisitions.
