German investment manager KGAL has appointed Anke Sax as chief operations officer (COO) and chief technology officer (CTO), to lead the group's organisation and operations, plus the expansion of its digitalisation strategy.

Sax joins CEO Gert Waltenbauer, chief financial officer Thomas Schröer and chief investment officer Klaus Wolf as a member of the KGAL management team.

Sax has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial sector, also leading the digital transformation of a number of prominent businesses during this time. Most recently, she held the role of chief information officer (CIO) at Deutsche WertpapierService Bank in Frankfurt, having previously been CIO at Daimler Financial Services in Stuttgart.

She also held the role of CIO Commercial Banking at Commerzbank, where she was responsible for designing and optimising IT systems for payment transactions, financing and data management across the company’s private and corporate customer businesses.

A business administration graduate, Sax completed a Doctorate in IT strategy at the Technical University of Munich. She was named CIO of the Year (SMEs) in 2019 and European Digital Leader of the Year (Finance) in 2020.
