After a career spanning over four decades, Jon Zehner, vice chairman of LaSalle Investment Management, has announced he is retiring at the end of the year.
Zehner joined LaSalle in 2012, bringing with him extensive experience in real estate and corporate finance.
During his 13 years at LaSalle, Zehner played a pivotal role in various leadership positions, including leading the firm's Investor Relations team, heading LaSalle Global Partner Solutions, and ultimately serving as vice chairman since early 2023. He has been a consistent member of the Global Management Committee throughout his tenure.
Before joining LaSalle, Zehner spent 28 years at JPMorgan in various corporate finance roles, including leading the Real Estate Investment Banking and sub-Saharan Africa divisions. He later joined Area Property Partners (now Ares) as a senior director.
Zehner played a prominent role in the real estate industry, co-founding organizations like the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA), the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Europe, and the University of Cambridge's MPhil program in Real Estate Finance.
He continues to serve as chair of the University of Cambridge's Land Economy Advisory Board and as a trustee of the Urban Land Institute, where he recently held the position of European chair and served on the Global Board of Directors. His various board positions include independent non-executive director of Vukile Property Fund, a Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed REIT, and member of the Executive Council of King's College London, where he chairs the Estates Strategy Committee. He also chairs African Parks UK and sits on the Board of Governors of Arnold House School in London.
Mark Gabbay, Global CEO of LaSalle, said: ‘We are truly grateful for Jon’s extraordinary service and commitment to LaSalle over almost 13 years in which he made countless contributions to the business as it evolved and to the wider industry.’
Zehner added: ‘I am grateful for the experiences and relationships I’ve gained in my time at LaSalle. It has been a pleasure to work alongside such talented people around the world. I have learned a great deal during my time here and hope that I have contributed something in return.’
