Alp Alkas, an associate Director at JLL EMEA Retail Capital Markets, died at the age of 27 at his home in London.

Alp Alkas, an associate Director at JLL EMEA Retail Capital Markets, died at the age of 27 at his home in London.

Alp Alkas joined Jones Lang LaSalle in 2008. For the last two years he was part of the Jones Lang LaSalle Pan-European retail capital markets team, advising investors. Prior to this he worked in the Jones Lang LaSalle European retail agency team with international retailers. He was also the youngest son of Avi Alkas, current chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle Turkey.

Most recently, he brought that experience to bear in the capital markets advice he was providing to our international investment clients. He was a true professional with an exceptional career ahead of him. He will be missed by the industry as a future leader, but primarily as an outstanding human being.'

Alkas was an active and highly valued member of ICSC Europe as well as was one of the youngest ever ICSC Certified Marketing Directors (CMD) and Shopping Centre Managers (CSM).

He started his career at Alkas Consulting, which is where he first became involved with ICSC. Alkas Consulting was acquired by Jones Lang LaSalle in 2008 and he worked in the Istanbul, Turkey office of the business specialising on concept development, including advice on shopping centre design and retail compatibility. He was also involved in leasing landmark projects such as Istinye Park, which went on to win a prestigious ICSC European Shopping Centre Award.

Alkas advised international retailers on entry into the Turkish markets as well as providing international consultancy to Turkish retailers seeking to expand.
