Nis Arb Edo, a Japanese investment company backed by institutional equity, has acquired the Stilwerk shopping centre in Berlin from Dutch asset manager Amelia Asset 1 for an undisclosed amount.

The shopping centre provides 24,000 m2 of space over 50 stores with tenants including Bang & Olufsen, USM, Lambert, C. Bechstein, and Rolf Benz. Opened in 1999, it comprises a newly built section and a historical part mainly occupied by Commerzbank.

Amelia Asset 1 had acquired the property in 2008 in a portfolio transaction.

Berwin Leighton Paisner and ARB Asset Management advised the buyer on the deal. BNP Paribas Real Estate acted for the vendor.

The acquisition is the second by the Japanese investor in Germany following the €65 mln purchase in October 2013 of the Treptower office building from the Episo fund managed by Tristan Capital Partners.
