Jaap Gillis has been appointed CEO of Dutch investment manager Bouwfonds REIM, succeeding Jean Klijnen. Gillis will also take a seat on the board of Bouwfonds REIM’s parent group Rabo Real Estate. He will take up his new positions on 1 August.

Jaap Gillis has been appointed CEO of Dutch investment manager Bouwfonds REIM, succeeding Jean Klijnen. Gillis will also take a seat on the board of Bouwfonds REIM’s parent group Rabo Real Estate. He will take up his new positions on 1 August.

Gillis was chief operating officer at European retail property specialist Redevco until April this year. He previously held various management positions at companies including developer AM and ING Real Estate.

Gillis is chairman of the Dutch Green Building Council and a member of the European advisory board of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is vice-chairman of the Urban Land Institute in the Netherlands and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Bouwfonds REIM is a leading investment manager with AUM of EUR 7.2 bn and operations in the Netherlands, France and Germany.

Commenting on his appointment, Gillis said one of his priorities will be to capitalise on growth in certain segments of the German and French property sectors by launching new funds for international institutional investors.
