Ingo Hartlief is stepping down from his roles with Swiss Life Asset Management, the fund manager which led PropertyEU's most recent ranking of Top Investors by European real estate AUM.
Hartlief is leaving the company at his own request and by mutual agreement, Swiss Life AM said in a statement.
As a result, he will be vacating his roles as deputy managing director and chief operations officer of Swiss Life AM's Corpus Sireo Real Estate in Cologne and CEO of the German business, Swiss Life Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft.
Hartlief will continue to serve in an advisory capacity until end-December this year. In the interim, his managerial roles will be performed by the Executive Committee of the property investment and asset management company.
With companies in Switzerland, France and Germany, Swiss Life AM managed real estate assets with a total value of more than €67 bn at end-2016. Corpus Sireo manages special funds with a current volume of €2.3 bn.
Swiss Life took first place in PropertyEU's Top Investors ranking, based on 2015 European real estate AUM, published in October 2016. Swiss Life AM had an AUM of €62.2 bn, with AXA IMRA in second place on €54.2 bn and Aviva Investors in third on €43.5 bn.
Hartlief, FRICS, has worked at Corpus Sireo since July 2010. The company, which was acquired by Swiss Life AM in 2014, has in the meantime positioned itself as a leading asset management service provider in Germany. Hartlief was responsible for an additional gain of more than €8 bn of real estate under management and also played a leading role in the conception of and client acquisition for eight institutional funds, as well as the acquisition of some large-volume property and portfolio mandates.
In addition, Hartlief was instrumental in the development of Swiss Life KVG. The first open-ended mutual property fund, Swiss Life Living and Working, was set up and launched under his leadership.
Hartlief commented: 'Over the past seven years, the Corpus Sireo team has strengthened the brand, managed the change of ownership from savings banks to Swiss Life, expanded the institutional business and set up a mutual property fund. This all involved a lot of hard work and a huge amount of passion. I would like to thank all my colleagues at Corpus Sireo and Swiss Life for my wonderful and successful time here!'
