ING Real Estate Finance (ING REF) saw its new commercial real estate business fall 42% to EUR 4 bn in 2009 from EUR 7 bn the previous year, according to PropertyEU's annual survey of the top financiers in Europe. In terms of outstanding volume, however, ING REF still ranks among the top three players in Continental Europe with EUR 35.2 bn. Eurohypo and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank topped the league in 2009 with EUR 75 bn and EUR 44 bn respectively.

In terms of outstanding volume, however, ING REF still ranks among the top three players in Continental Europe with EUR 35.2 bn. Eurohypo and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank topped the league in 2009 with EUR 75 bn and EUR 44 bn respectively.

Eurohypo tops the league of top 10 German lenders, but saw its production fall last year by almost 30% year-on-year to EUR 10 bn. Westimmo showed the strongest growth, with new loan production rising 13% to EUR 6.2 bn from EUR 5.5 bn in 2008. In total, the top 10 German lenders generated EUR 45.4 bn in new business last year, a decline of 30% on the EUR 64 bn reported in 2008. The financiers survey is published in the September edition of PropertyEU magazine.
