Infraserv Hochst is to develop a clean power plant in the Industriepark Hochst in Frankfurt, Germany, the company announced at the EXPO REAL congress on Tuesday. The waste-to-energy facility will be the largest of its kind in Germany and will account for an investment of roughly EUR 300 mln. The facility is projected to come on stream in late 2008.
The move is aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the industrial park by providing tenants with cost-effective energy solutions. 'The waste-to-energy plant is a central component of our holistic energy strategy for Industriepark Hochst,' says Roland Mohr, managing director of Infraserv Hochst. 'Expanding our own power-production capacity minimizes our exposure to the ups and downs of the energy market - and that benefits tenants at the park.'
Infraserv is increasingly turning to energy-generation facilities which are both environment-friendly and cost-effective. 'That way, we can supply energy to customers at internationally competitive prices for a long time to come,' Mohr said. 'Energy prices are a key success factor for manufacturers at Indutriepark Hochst. Building the WTE power station is our way of investing in the attractiveness and future of our location.'
