Swiss construction and real estate provider Implenia has scooped up contracts worth over CHF 220 mln (€232 mln) for construction projects in Switzerland and Germany.
Implenia is building a logistics center near the harbour in the Sternenfeld district of Birsfelden (Basel). It sold the project to an investor in November and secured University Hospital Basel as anchor tenant. Construction work began in August and the project should be handed over to the buyer in H2 2025. USB will manage the tenant fit-out itself, and the building should be operational from 2026.
Implenia has been awarded the contract by Roxbury and the Terra et Casa Foundation to build the 24,700 m2 Passage Morillons. This project will consist of two rental apartment blocks and an office building, connected by a common ground floor containing shopping arcades. Being built to HPE and Minergie P standards, Passage Morillons is located in Geneva's international quarter.
Implenia CEO André Wyss commented: ‘These projects confirm the trust that our clients have in Implenia. The Group is on track to achieve its objectives set for 2023.’
Recently, the company leveraged its sustainability expertise to win two modernization projects in Switzerland, focusing on energy efficiency and tenant comfort. In Lausanne, two buildings with 76 rental apartments will be renovated by February 2025. In Oberwil, renovation is underway on the Mühlemattcenter which includes shops, office space, a fitness centre, and health practices, with completion due by July 2025.
Implenia’s Master Builder unit has been contracted by building and housing cooperative Kraftwerk1 to build a residential and commercial building in the new Koch-Quartier neighbourhood in Zurich; by Canton Zug for two new buildings for Cham Immobilien at the Papieri site in Cham; and by Griag for the new Dreilinden care home and the Leben in Alter building in Rotkreuz.
The company has also further cemented its presence in Germany with three new contracts.
Implenia has been commissioned by GBG Mannheimer Wohnungsbaugesellschaft to build the timber-hybrid "Grüne Mitte" community center in Mannheim, part of Germany’s largest development project. It is also building a new production, laboratory, and office building in Ilmenau for Analytik Jena and converting the Zentral-Messepalast in central Leipzig for the Dr. Erich Krüger Foundation.
