Swedish retailer chain Ikea is planning to invest EUR 120 mln in two new stores in the cities of Girona and Tarragona in southern Spain. An additional Ikea store is scheduled to open in Sant Cugat del Valles, Catalunya, by 2010, regional newspaper Catalunya Expansion has reported.

The world's most successful mass-market retailer will also invest EUR 110 mln in the expansion plan of the existing logistics scheme in Valt in 2007. The new project will add some 131,000 m2 of space. Ikea owns two stores in the region, providing 48,000 m2 of retail. The firm sells Scandinavian-style home furnishings and other house goods in 230 stores across 33 countries.
