'The German hotel market is accelerating at pace and we are well positioned to take advantage of the appetite for branded growth,' said Robert Shepherd, IHG's Chief Development Officer Europe.

'57% of the market is unbranded. Several of our signings in the last few months have been with long-standing partners of IHG, who have signed multiple development agreements with the company. It’s a great start as we head into this quarter,' he added.

IHG announced record signings in the first half of this year with the addition of 24 hotels comprising 4,000 rooms, the highest figures since 2008.

The new-build properties will be located in three federal states across the country and will involve Multiple Development Agreement (MDA) partners.

In Baden-Wuerteemberg, owner and franchisee TriStar is building the Holiday Inn Express Pforzheim situated between Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. Featuring 140 rooms, the hotel will open in late 2019. MDA partner Primestar will run the Holiday Inn Mannheim City - Hauptbahnhof, located near the station, while Foremost Hospitality is owner of the new build Holiday Inn Express Mannheim with 160 rooms, also in the city centre.

Bavaria will see the addition of the 182-room Holiday Inn Express Regensburg constructed by Hubert Haupt Immobilienmanagement GmbH. The hotel will be franchised by Success Hotel Management GmbH, a MDA partner which already licenses four other Holiday Inn Express hotels.

Franchised by TriStar, Holiday Inn Express Oberhausen will feature 140 rooms and is set to open early 2018.

IHG currently has 64 hotels in Germany and 33 in the pipeline, including 53 Holiday Inn brand family hotels open with another 32 planned.
