Two shopping centres in Turkey and one in the Netherlands have been recognised in the new developments section of the European Shopping Centre Awards for 2016.
The 40th edition of the Awards was help at the European conference of the International Council of Shopping Centers in Milan this week. In total, awards went to six shopping centres from a selection of 12 finalists representing 10 countries across Europe. The awards are the result of detailed assessment and personal on-site inspection of the centres by the ICSC jury.
The Award winners:
New Developments - Large/Extra Large: Mall of Istanbul in Istanbul, Turkey
New Developments - Large/Extra Large: Zorlu Center in Istanbul, Turkey.
New Developments - Small/Medium: Markthal Rotterdam in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Refurbishment/Expansion - Medium: Frederiksberg Centret in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Refurbishment/Expansion - Large: Ülemiste Shopping Centre in Tallinn, Estonia.
Established Centre: Bullring in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
In addition, the ICSC jury recognised two further centres. Milaneo Stuttgart in Stuttgart received the Resource Award. The Resource Award is only given when the ICSC Shopping Centre Awards Jury agrees that a project, developer, architect, manager or retailer committed to long-term sustainable development. BIG Ashdod Mall in Ashdod, Israel was recognised in the category New Developments - Small/Medium (Commendation).
