Four shopping centres were recogonised in categories celebrating the best in Europe’s new developments, established centres and regeneration. The awards also granted commendation to three further centres for noteworthy refurbishment/expansion works.

'We faced the challenge of choosing one winner for each category as the shortlist contained impressive developments with all demonstrating various aspects of best-practice,' commented jury chair João Correia de Sampaio, executive director of property management and leasing at Sonae Sierra Portugal. 'We are privileged to have awarded the winners this year and commend all entries on this achievement.'

Winning projects
Redevco was the winner in the New Developments – Small category for its harmoniously crafted scheme Promenade Sainte-Catherine in Bordeaux, France, which uses local Bordeaux stone, contrasted with an advanced digital platform and 40 m2 exterior LED wall.

Unibail-Rodamco's Polygone Riviera in Cagnes sur Mer, France, the largest open-air shopping centre in the country, picked up the gong in the New Developments – Medium/large category for its high-quality landscaping and diverse tenant mix.

Europark Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria won the award in the Established Centres. Commendations
In addition, the ICSC European Shopping Centres Award Jury commended three further centres - Forum Lviv in Lviv, Ukraine, Gelderlandplein in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Aleja Bielany in Kobierzyce, Poland.

'This year’s ICSC European Conference and Shopping Centre Awards were particularly special as this was the first time in a decade that the conference was held in Warsaw. The immense growth within the CEE commercial property market is evident – as seen with two Eastern European centres being honoured at the Awards this year,' said Bill Kistler, executive vice president & managing director – EMEA at ICSC.

'ICSC Europe prides itself at being at the helm of industry trends and the Awards honoured the retail destinations that set the bar. Congratulations to all winners and shortlisted centres, owners, developers and architects,' Kistler concluded.
