The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has appointed Abigail Livesey as business development manager for Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and India to support the organisation’s international growth.
Livesey, aged 34, speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian, Afrikaans and Mandarin. He has joined the organisation from BBC Worldwide, where she worked in a similar development role across the EMEA with particular focus on Russia, Turkey and Central Eastern Europe.
Over the last two years ICSC has grown substantially to support the associated global expansion of retail real estate, particularly in the new markets opening up across India, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the continuing expansion of retail real estate across China. Developers, owners and investors are seeking new opportunities in these huge new markets and are looking to develop relationships with retailers in these areas. As a result, they are increasingly looking for support with education, advocacy, research and networking opportunities from ICSC as their membership organisation.
Livesey said she was looking forward to the challenge: 'This is a fantastic opportunity for me to bring my global knowledge gained through seven years of working for BBC Worldwide to focus on the dynamic and exciting world of retail property.'
