Hypo Real Estate Bank International has provided EUR 143 mln in senior investment and VAT financing to Akron, the Austrian real estate company, for the purchase of the Warsaw Trade Tower office building in the Polish capital. The transaction completed on December 4, the Stuttgart-based real estate lender said.

The transaction completed on December 4, the Stuttgart-based real estate lender said.

The Warsaw Trade Tower, described by the bank as one of Poland's most prestigious buildings, comprises 45,000 m2 of lettable office area over 39 floors. At 208 metres, it is one of the tallest office buildings in Europe.

Its tenants on long-term contracts include KPMG, MSD, AXA, American Express, Winterhur and PKN Orlen. The property also has two retail levels with approximately 2,100 m2 and more than 450 parking spaces.

Akron said the tower will become the core of its new EUR 500 mln Akron CEE II (AICEE II) fund that invests in offices, logistics and retail property in Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Russia.
