The process opened in Hungary on Thursday for tenders to design and build a new 30-hectare complex in Budapest to house most government departments. Bids will be accepted up to the end of May and the winner will be announced in mid June, the head of the evaluation committee told a press conference earlier this week.
The development is expected to cost EUR 260 mln and the complex is to be ready by mid 2009. Newspaper Világgazdsag reported back in December that Skanska, Strabag, GTC Real Estate and local developer Trigranit Rt were considering bidding for the contract. The Hungarian government expects to earn about EUR 80 mln from the sale of the buildings it currently occupies.
