London-based law firm Howard Kennedy has appointed Richard Burt as its first head of real estate operations.

The firm said that the new board level role will manage and shape Howard Kennedy’s 100-strong real estate team.

Burt joined the firm on 13 April from London-listed corporate restructuring specialist Begbies Traynor Group, where he was operations partner, as well as head of its forensic, risk and investigations teams.

He previously trained with EY and spent many years dealing with client facing work, before moving into UK and subsequently EMEIA operational roles, handling the mergers of teams, financial performance, planning, growth and the recruitment, development and retention of people.

Howard Kennedy’s real estate team acts for retail brands, restaurant and leisure companies, investment funds, housebuilders, developers and occupiers. It also offers specialist advice in planning, construction, portfolio management, plot sales, taxation, corporate and commercial advice, and litigation.
