Hodes Weill & Associates, a New York-headquartered firm, and one of the best-known capital solutions advisors in private equity real estate, has made two moves for its new Amsterdam office.

Not only is Denver-based partner Matt Hershey relocating to Amsterdam whilst retaining his role as global head of distribution. But the company has also hired Barbara Maltha as principal from CBRE Capital Advisors.

She will lead the firm’s recently opened office in the Dutch capital while Hershey – also a former CBRE Capital Advisors professional - builds out operations in Europe and the Middle East working with two other EMEA principals, Jonathan Read and Rima Batal.

Founder, David Hodes, said: ‘We are excited about the opportunity to expand our platform in Europe. The addition of Barbara and the opening of Amsterdam are highly strategic for our firm. Together with Matt’s relocation, we are positioned to bolster our relationships with institutions and fund managers across Continental Europe. Target allocations to real estate and real assets continue to grow globally, and institutions in Europe, as well as around the world, remain meaningfully under-invested.’

The company opened an office in London in 2012 and at one time was led in Europe by Will Rowson, who left in December 2019 after five years at the firm.

In 2017, the company announced it had hired Read, a former Angelo Gordon & Co capital raiser, to add to the London office.
