German developer Hochtief has unveiled plans to build a 144-room hotel on Berlin's Petriplatz in the Mitte district.
Frasers Hospitality, which will start operating the hotel at the beginning of 2017, has bought the property off-plan for an undisclosed amount.
Under the plans, a seven-storey building with an above-grade gross floor area of about 7,700 m2 will be built on a lot of around 1,500 m2 between Scharrenstrasse, Gertraudenstrasse and Breite Strasse.
'Frasers Hospitality’s concept is geared to the rising demand for temporary accommodation with all the comfort of a hotel in a premium business location. We are seeing a growing demand for this, particularly in Berlin,' said Gordon Gorski, manager of the Berlin-Brandenburg branch of Hochtief Projektentwicklung.
