The Polish office of US property developer Hines has started preliminary work for the project to build a 160-metre high tower on ul. Grzybowska in Warsaw. The firm told PropertyEU that it has been granted permission to begin construction and will now start demolition works on the site, while beginning to search for a general contractor for the project.
Designed by architectural firm Helmut Jahn, the project will provide around 31,500 m2 of commercial and residential space as well as a four-storey car park with 299 parking spaces. Construction work is likely to begin in the first quarter of next year.
Hines has been active in the Central and Eastern European market for over 15 years, and is present in Poland since 1997. This summer, the Houston-based property developer started construction on its 13,000 m2 Sterlinga Business Center (SBC) office project in Lódz. Located on ul. Sterlinga in the city's centre, the class-A facility is scheduled for completion at the end of next year.
The company is best known in the country for the development of the Metropolitan office building, which was designed by star architect Lord Norman Foster and was completed in 2003. In end-2006, Hines sold the project to German fund manager Degi.
